Competitive Advantages, rationale

Nepabunna NurseryRDAFN maintains eight (8) Small Business Centres located in the major centres throughout the region. A significant component of this work involves ensuring that businesses throughout northern South Australia have knowledge of and access to a full range of government and non-government support programs available elsewhere in Australia. RDAFN works closely with indigenous and non-indigenous business enterprises in support of their business growth and viability.

State and Commonwealth Governments are moving progressively away from direct provision of business advisory services preferring to outsource these to community and business groups. During the transition phase of this, regional development boards are finding that there are inevitable increases in demand for their business services in order to bridge some of the gaps that have emerged.

The tyranny of distance experienced in northern South Australia dictates the business advisory and extension services, training/workshops, opportunity and business facilitation knowledge need to be taken to businesses rather than vice versa.

Oodnadatta MuseumRDAFN currently undertakes a wide range of Business Advisory Services. These include rolling out a series of business support workshops through the Commonwealth sponsored Small Business Field Officer program (refer - Small Business Answers), undertaking in-depth business advisory services to indigenous people and businesses through the Commonwealth's Indigenous Business Australia programs through to providing one on one business planning and assistance work through the Board's Business Advisor.

Given the nature of northern South Australia the strength of small and medium enterprises is critical to the growth of the economy across the region and in ensuring sustainable communities. Accordingly RDAFN continues to develop these services to meet the communities needs as a core deliverable.
