ESF Network

The Regional Development Australia Far North coordinates and manages the Northern Employment and Skills Formation (ESF) Network to assist the delivery of training, skills and pathways to employment specific to the needs of this region. The Network is one of 13 operating in South Australia.

This Network has been operating since March 2004 and is working collaboratively with both the supply and demand side of employment and skills development to focus on employment opportunities and to meet perceived skill shortages.

The Network is committed to developing initiatives addressing:

Local training meeting current needs and emerging opportunities within industry.
Life-long learning culture that enhances the competitive position of the Northern Region.
Innovative and effective pathways for education, training and employment.
Coordinated transitional opportunities for individuals who fall outside the mainstream.

In summary the Network wants to enhance our labour market by creating more employment opportunities to ensure our region is more competitive as a result of our highly skilled and adaptive workforce, while better integrating the resources and efforts of State and Commonwealth programs and ensure our community does not ignore those individuals who fall outside mainstream education, training and work placement systems

Although sharing a common framework and sharing a common set of objectives and responsibilities, each Employment and Skills Formation Network operates according to unique regional parameters.

The Employment and Skills Formation Networks are responsible for:

Building strategic alliances within the region.
Providing a coordinated local response to training and employment issues.
Contributing to the community's capacity to respond to its employment and training needs through the building of local leadership and expertise.
Actively communicating information and representing other agencies, organisations or sectors.
Developing and endorsing a regional Employment and Skills Formation Plan.
Contributing to the development, monitoring and evaluation of project responses to issues that have been identified in the regional Employment and Skills Formation Plan.
